Waha Land launches work on first phase of Almarkaz development
Dubai: Waha Land, the real estate subsidiary of Waha Capital, the Abu Dhabi-based diversified investment holding company, yesterday announced the commencement of construction in the first phase of its mixed-use industrial development, Almarkaz.

The company has chosen System Construct as the contractor to build 90,000 square metres of light industrial buildings and Bin Hafeez General Contracting as the contractor for the infrastructure works in the initial phase of the project.

The first group of industrial units is planned to be handed over by the end of the second quarter of next year along with the sectional completion of infrastructure works.

Hazem Saeed Al Nowais, COO, Waha Land, said, "Almarkaz offers several unique advantages to investors and end-users.

"The infrastructure and building mix has been specifically designed to meet the needs of start-ups as well as small or large enterprises and recognises the requirement of businesses to grow and easily upgrade to larger premises over time without major relocation."

The Almarkaz project is divided into four phases, the first of which will occupy 1.5 square kilometers. The first phase will feature 220,000 square meters of warehouses, 285,000 square meters of light industrial units, 90,000 square meters of small light industrial units,19,000 square meters of commercial space, and 5,000 square meters of office space.
